CS&G Process- Design-Bid-Build
In certain situations, you may feel that the best way to insure that you are getting the best price for your signage products is to issue bid packages based on the information gleaned from the CS&G process. CS&G will work with you to...
Prepare contract documents
- Typical sign type drawings
- Message schedule for initial phase
- Prepare budgets and recommendations
Obtain competitive bids
- Prepare bid documents
- Orchestrate the bid process
Vendor Negotiation
- Select apparent successful vendor
- Sign off on message schedules, locations, etc...
- Review shop drawings and submittals
- Contract negotiations and award contracts
Implementation
- Assist with permitting issues
- Oversee vendor fabrication and installation
Disadvantages of Design-Bid-Build
- Since this process is linear in nature, it increases the amount of time from the beginning of the process to the final product being installed. On a average project, it could result in an additional 12 -21 weeks being added to the process.
- Since there is a design agency and a fabrication contractor involved, there is additional cost added to the project. Under the design-build process, you have better control over the budgetary process.
- There is a lack of flexibility involved in design-bid-build since the fabrication contractor bids strictly off of the documents provided, resulting in additional costs for any changes that are discovered after the bid has been awarded.
